Dr. Ian Dunbar created and taught the world’s very first puppy class in the San Francisco Bay Area over 30 years ago. His SIRIUS Puppy Training Classes literally redefined and revolutionized pet dog training. Before SIRIUS, there simply were no family-friendly puppy classes designed for companion dogs, virtually no reward-based classes, and not much fun in dog training. See https://www.siriuspup.com/about
Trainers know how important early socialization is to helping a puppy grow into a confident, friendly dog who feels safe and comfortable in his/her environment. We see too many dogs who react to unfamiliar people, dogs or surroundings by either freezing, hiding or cowering, or by barking, lunging, and growling. They are exhibiting stress because they are not comfortable and do not feel safe.
Socialization is not just introducing your puppy to the world, but it is making the world a friendly and fun place. Socialization should continue throughout a dog’s life but the first 16 weeks of your puppy’s life are the most critical.
Puppy classes are a great way to introduce them to new people, other puppies, and new environments in a safe and happy way and also helps to shape the behaviors that will make your puppy a well-behaved family member.
Here’s to being our dog’s best friend,
