I am an accredited trainer and have been training pet dogs since Feb., 2011.  I teach puppy, beginner, intermediate, advanced, therapy dog and click-a-trick classes and also private sessions. AKC CGC and Star Puppy

Education:

  • PetSmart Pet Trainer Program Accredited Pet Dog Trainer 2011
  • University of Edinburgh Online Animal Behavior and Welfare Certificate 2015
  • Udemy Workshop for Reactive Dogs (Ian Dunbar) Certificate of Completion 2015
  • Udemy Science-Based Dog Training (Ian Dunbar) Certificate of Completion 2015
  • Udemy Dr. Ian Dunbar’s SIRIUS® Dog Trainer Academy – All 4 Days – Certificate of Completion 2016

Because force and fear are not necessary to train any animal,

morally they should not be used.

Confrontational methods which involve pain, fear and intimidation increase the probability of owners being bitten by their dogs, damage the owner-dog relationship, and decrease a dog’s willingness and ability to obey commands (Weiss & Glazer, 1975; Reisner, 1994; Hiby et al., 2004; Schilder & van der Borg, 2004; Herron et al., 2009; Beaver, 2009; Arhant et al., 2010; Rooney & Cowan, 2011).

I have loved (don’t like to say “owned”) many dogs – both purebreds and mutts, big and small. My current love is a St. Bernard/Lab cross named Max.

  1. I hate to say “owned” too. Completely agree with your methods.

  2. Hello, I would like to nominate this blog for the Versatile Blogger Award.

Please understand that there is absolutely NO obligation to accept, repost or follow any of the VBA rules (which can be quite tedious). And should you prefer me to take down the link to your site from our VBA post, I will. Just let me know. We nominated you because we enjoyed your blog but we do not want to inconvenience you in anyway.

You can see our VBA post where we have linked to you at – http://weliveinaflat.wordpress.com/2013/06/17/mugshots-are-ugly/

The VBA is a “chain-letter” award. More about it on – http://versatilebloggeraward.wordpress.com/

    Have a good day!

  3. Thanks for following my blog. I like your methods. I’ll follow you too so I can learn some new things for my “pack” …or maybe I should not call them a pack??? Rural life with five dogs (among other animals) has it’s own challenges.

    • Rural life with 5 dogs and other animals sounds wonderful! You do have a pack (as in family unit) 🙂
Thanks for the follow! I’m sure we can learn from each other.

    • Thank you! I started the blog so I could share good information with the people who attend my training classes. There is a lot of information on the internet about training and much of it is based on outdated dominance theory methods. I’m happy to hear you like it and thank you so much for sharing.
